Jackboots are boots designed for marching. These boots have no laces and cover most of a person's calf. Jackboots usually have a leather sole and iron heels. They are called "Marschstiefel" in German, and this translates to 'marching boot'. Jackboot comes from the word jacketor, or jerkin, which is an attire worn by peasants. Many of the soldiers were peasants. These boots became popular during World War ll because worn out boots were a problem for the soldiers. Jackboots were made from better quality materials so, these boots replaced the boots of lesser quality. Normally, most people do not wear the Jackboot today. But, some people in armed forces wear them to carry on their country's traditional military outfits.
